I have a 4 door sedan and it fits on the trunk just fine. It has two top hooks and one lower (under trunk lid) hook to hold it on. I’ve driven with one and two bikes on it with no problem. I’ve gone on the freeway and to the beach and over not so great roads and it does what it’s supposed to: holds bikes when you drive. Plus, it was a good price.

it works pretty well, I hauled a pretty heavy beach Cruiser 2000 miles and never had to adjust it except the one time I had to open the trunk. no complaints so far and I have had it for over a year now.

If you have the Spare Tire Rack, as I do for my Jeep Wrangler, the Model 955 “stabilizer” is a must-have. It works perfectly and does what it has to do - keeps the bike from swaying back and forth over any kind of terrain. I would highly recommend it, and it’s worth the price.

Purchased to mount my irregular shaped frame on a new trunk rack. I’ve seen other inferior bars with no locking or telescoping feature selling for 10-15 dollars more. This bar is strong, won’t scratch my frame and is worth the cost.

Bought bike carrier and realized that women’s bikes could not be loaded without an adapter. The Saris crossbar adapter goes on and off easily and does the job, i.e., the bike can be loaded onto the carrier. The price and service through Amazon was good and the delivery was speedy.

Customer Review: Good Product……..but, not for me.
Actually, this little gadget is well made and probably appropriate for some folks. I bought it together with the wall-mount bracket from the same manufacturer. Unless you mount the wall-bracket…which is used to hang the bike by the front wheel….as low as possible to the garage floor, it could be an effort for some to secure the bike in place. Once you’ve accomplished that and assuming you’ve positioned the wall-bracket as low on your garage wall as possible, you will have to satisfy yourself with the bike protruding from the wall and quite possibly relinquishing valuable horizontal/floor space in your garage. In those cases where this might not be an issue, I think it would be worthwhile to consider. However, just won’t work for me.

Things I Like: It is easy to put together, they even include the required tools. There are wheels so you can move the bike around easily. The build quality is pretty good considering the price. I also like the fact that it can be adjusted to fit either road or mountain bike wheels. You can easily use either the front wheel or the back wheel to mount the bike, it makes it very easy to keep my bikes organized and not leaning all over each other.

About Allen Bike Racks
In 1967, after a few years of working on the aerospace technology for the Apollo missions, Dick Allen was out of a job. Government cutbacks led Allen, a Harvard-trained physicist, to transform his garage hobby into a new industry. A cycling enthusiast, inventor, and family man, Allen had a personal need for a bike-carrying device. On weekends, he would take his sons and wife to Cape Cod or the White Mountains of New Hampshire. What proved difficult time and again was the transport of his family’s bicycles. Rather than fight through inconvenience with twine and a dinged car, Allen sought an answer for himself as well as a market in which he foresaw major growth possibilities.

Always a pathfinder, Allen took to work in his Lincoln, Massachusetts garage in search of a more efficient way to transport bikes. Drafting designs during the day and constructing them throughout the night, he put together a model made of electrical conduit, metal strapping, and fire hose casings (for padding). At first, the Allens tested the prototype on weekend excursions. Finding the first trunk-mounted rack to be a success, Dick started Allen Bike Racks. Dealer acceptance came quickly, and by 1971 Allen Bike Racks were sold nationally through a number of major bicycle distributors. Today, the company owns over three dozen patents and offers a versatile product line of bike racks while Dick’s son Alex now owns and operates the business. What started out as a small garage run operation now operates three warehouses nationally, two factories abroad, and has products sold in more than a dozen countries around the world.
